What is Gesher Community Care (GCC)?
Gesher Community Care (formerly Gesher Campus Care) is a non-profit mental health referral and support organization serving the US and Canadian Jewish community.
We connect Jewish individuals with trusted, culturally responsive therapists and help reduce financial barriers to care.
Do you still serve college students?
Yes, absolutely.
Supporting college students remains central to our mission. Gesher began by supporting Jewish students, faculty and staff navigating identity-related stress, antisemitism, academic pressure, and mental health challenges.
As we expand into the broader community, we are strengthening, not stepping away from our commitment to students. We continue to provide referrals, financial subsidies, and campus-focused programming.
How does the referral process work?
You complete a confidential intake form on our website.
Our team thoughtfully reviews your needs.
We provide personalized therapist referrals aligned with your clinical, cultural, and logistical considerations.
How do you ensure that I will be safe as a Jewish person with my therapist?
All GCC therapists sign off on the IHRA definition of antisemitism.
They also complete a two-hour training course entitled, “The Impact of Antisemitism in Emerging Adulthood: Stress Factors, Understanding Trauma, and Fostering Resilience in Therapy”. Subsequently, each therapist meets with a member of the MHAB before receiving referrals.
Do you provide financial assistance?
Yes. When funding is available, we offer subsidies (for example, up to $100 per session for a limited number of sessions) to reduce financial barriers to care.
Access should not be determined by affordability alone.
If I miss a session with my therapist or have a late cancellation fee, do my subsidies cover that?
No.
Our subsidies are billable for completed sessions only. If a missed session or late-cancel occurs, those fees are negotiated between therapist and client.
I am already in therapy with someone. Can Gesher help subsidize my sessions?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide subsidies for sessions already in progress, even if that therapist is within the Gesher network.
I live outside of the US/Canda, can you help me with referrals too?
While we do have connections to safe therapists in other countries, they are not within the Gesher therapist network and we cannot provide subsidies to them at this time.
Is Gesher only for people who have experienced antisemitism?
No. We support individuals across the mental health spectrum. From anxiety, depression, or trauma to identity development, life transitions, relationship challenges, and personal growth.
Do you provide therapy directly?
Gesher Community Care is not a therapy service. We are a referral and support organization that connects individuals to trusted therapists in our network.
How is Gesher different from campus counseling centers?
GCC offers:
Access to therapists outside the university system
Clinicians familiar with Jewish identity and cultural context
Financial assistance (when available)
Workshops and psychoeducation for parents
We complement, not replace, existing resources.
How can I support Gesher Community Care?
You can:
Donate
Sponsor therapy sessions
Partner with us for workshops or trainings
Share our resources with students and families
