Breaking the Silence: Recognizing Men’s Mental Health Month

June is Men’s Mental Health Month.

From a young age, many men are taught to be strong, stay busy, and push through adversity. Society frequently reinforces the idea that emotional vulnerability is a vulnerability to be avoided. But carrying stress, anxiety, grief, or uncertainty entirely alone takes a very real, very heavy toll.

Mental health challenges don’t make someone weak. They make someone human.

Why Taking Care of Your Mental Health Matters

Taking care of your mental health matters—for you, your relationships, your family, and your future. When we ignore our internal struggles, the impact ripples outward into our daily lives and our closest connections.

The reality is that many men struggle in silence. This isn't because they don’t care about their well-being or their families, but because they’ve learned to carry things entirely on their own. Furthermore, men experience anxiety, too, but stress, worry, and overwhelm don’t always look the way people expect. It can manifest as irritability, physical exhaustion, social withdrawal, or overworking.

This month, we are encouraging honest conversations, heightened self-awareness, and a vital reminder: support isn't weakness. Asking for help is a sign of self-awareness, not failure.

You Don't Need to Have All the Answers

If you are considering therapy but feel hesitant, remember this: you don’t have to have the right words, and you don’t need all the answers to start therapy.

Therapy isn't about arriving with a perfect script. It is a collaborative space that can help you make sense of thoughts and feelings, even when they’re incredibly hard to explain. You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

Whether you’re personally struggling, supporting a man you care about, or simply checking in with yourself, taking the first step matters. Men deserve support.
