Psychological Safety within APA Matters

Psychological safety is the foundation of ethical mental health care. No psychologist should have to choose between participating in their profession and protecting their identity.

We are calling on the American Psychological Association to ensure that Jewish and Israeli psychologists can attend, speak, collaborate, and contribute without fear of harassment, intimidation, exclusion, or pressure to hide who they are.

Professional belonging cannot depend on silence. Every mental health professional deserves to be treated with dignity, respected for who they are, and protected by clear standards that foster safety for everyone.

We urge the APA to strengthen safeguards, establish transparent reporting and response procedures, and work directly with Jewish mental health and civil rights organizations to ensure all psychologists can participate fully and safely.
